Benji and Abbi arrived in the marketplace. It was late in the afternoon, and they were both rather tired. The market seemed lazy in a way that fitted the general feeling of the day, and only a very few people were out and about. Those who were lounged about, some going in or out of taverns or chatting at the stalls that lined the streets.
The two travelers made their way down the street and to the door of a tavern. They entered, and the atmosphere within seemed even more lazy than the street. Several patrons sat around, and a man was wiping glasses behind the bar. As they entered, a girl in a purple dress came forward and greeted them.
"Welcome to the Yodeling Gnome. What can I do for ye?"
Benji gave a slight bow.
"We need lodgings for the night, if you have them. And if we might sit at the bar and quench our thirst...?"
"Oh, yes. You can talk to me da about both those things, he's the one with the rag."
The two made their way to the bar and took seats upon the raised stools that sat there. The barkeep looked up at them and grunted.
"What are ye wanting to drink?"
"Water, please. And we would also like lodgings for the night."
"Ye'll be wanting a room?"
He turned and busied himself getting their waters. Benji glanced at Abbi before he responded to the man's question.
"Two, please."
