Greninja's name derives from Ninja - but also from the French word for frog, Grenouille. Ninjas are often depicted with long billowing scarves, and when the fine folks at Game Freak designed the thing, they figured the best way to render said scarf on a ninja frog was to use a dominant feature of a frog's - its tongue. Clever idea, but completely nonsensical biologically speaking. Which is why I didn't wrap its tongue around its neck all scarf-like. However I couldn't entirely ignore the spirit of the creature, so I made it do a weird whippy thing - as is written in the picture description. XP

Also, fun fact - aside from Water Shuriken, Greninja has another signature move - Mat Block - which is based on the Tatami Flip technique often depicted as used by ninjas, in which a tatami mat is flipped to block incoming projectiles.

What the heck is the point for a Frog about 5 ft to be wearing basically, his tongue? as a scarf. That makes no sense as for the name Greninja. A move makes the ninja part make sense which is Water Shuriken.

That is to be expected when you take a creature that is drawn in a weird anime style and draw it more realistically.

I fail to see how is it any more awkward than having the poor thing's tongue wrapped around its neck in a completely nonsensical manner, though. xP

I really love the shuriken and the little ripply effect on the ground you did there for whatever reason. Also, Gren looks super cool like that ;D
