Luca was sitting on the couch with Torchic next to him. They were both looking at his Pokedex. It worked perfectly but it looked dead and looked like it needed energy. Luca put his Pokedex back and he heard a knock on the door. Luca answered the door to find Professor Kukui.
"Luca, today you will start your journey as a trainer and get an Alolan starter Pokemon," Professor Kukui said. Luca went to tell his parents but his parents were out shopping.
"Okay let's go quickly," Luca said, returning Torchic in it's Pokeball.
Luca saw Pokemon he had never seen before when travelling to where he would get his 'starter'. Luca saw, Pikipek, Yungoos and Grubbin. Luca also saw Pichu, Ledyba, Caterpie and Spinarak. When the Professor and Luca arrived at Iki town, (the place where Luca would be getting his starter) they made there way to the center of the town. Luca and Professor Kukui arrived at center of the village to find a man was standing on a huge platform.
"That's Hala, the Kahuna of Melemele Island. Chosen by the Guardian Tapu Koko, He will give you your new pokemon" The Professor whispered.
"Luca, Step forth and recieve your first Alolan Pokemon!" Hala yelled, throwing 3 Pokeballs onto the ground.
Luca approached the Pokemon, took out his Pokedex, and scanned all 3 of the Pokemon.
" Rowlet, The Grass Quill Pokemon.
This wary Pokémon uses photosynthesis to store up energy during the day, while becoming active at night. Silently it glides, drawing near its targets. Before they even notice it, it begins to pelt them with vicious kicks.
Litten, The Fire Cat Pokemon.
While grooming itself, it builds up fur inside its stomach. It sets the fur alight and spews fiery attacks, which change based on how it coughs.
It doesn't allow its emotions to be easily seen. Earning its trust takes time. It prefers solitude.
Popplio, the Sea Lion Pokemon.
This Pokémon snorts body fluids from its nose, blowing balloons to smash into its foes. It's famous for being a hard worker.
This Pokémon can control water bubbles. It practices diligently so it can learn to make big bubbles."
The Pokedex said.
Luca eliminated Litten as it was a fire type Pokemon and so was Torchic. Luca looked at The other Pokemon. They were both adorable however he liked one more than the other. Luca said slowly, "Hala, I choose Popplio."
Hala smiled and said, "Good choice, I think Popplio likes you already, here is her Pokeball," Hala said. Luca took Popplio's Pokeball and returned Popplio.
Luca went to the Pokemon Center to call his parents. They were happy that Luca got a new companion. Luca was about to head back home when a boy stopped him. He looked younger than Luca and he was shorter.
"You just got your first Pokemon right, So did I! i'm Hau, Hala's grandson and I challenge you to a battle!" Hau exclaimed.
"Okay, I accept, let's begin," Luca said with a grin.
