Ry stretched his arms and walked into Celestic Town. "We made it guys, come on out!" He yelled tossing out six pokeballs. Fuego, his Infernape, Jet his Sceptile, Splashy his Poliwhirl, Voltage his Luxray, Star his Staravia, and Aura his Riolu, all apeared beside their trainer. "Let's explore!" Ry shouted breaking off into a run. His Pokemon cheered and followed close behind.
"Come on, let's race to the Pokemon Center!" He yelled. He lowered jigs head and broke off into a sprint. His Pokemon soon began to gain ground on him. Then an elderly woman exited the Pokemon Center.
"Look out!" Ry yelled as he veered out of the way, and tripped onto the ground. Ry's Pokemon stopped, and the woman gave Jet a look.
"You're Sceptile, just might be," The old woman began in a cracked voice, "Please come with me to the ruins." She then hobbled off quickly towards the town square. Ry gave a shrug, and returned his team to their pokeballs and followed her. She entered the cavern and Ry froze. The entrance to the cavern was decorated with huge murals of legendary pokemon. "Wow," he breathed. he then rushed inside the ruins to see the old lady examining a cave paining. She turned to face him and said, "Send out your Sceptile, and I'll bring someone you both will want to meet." Again she scurried away. Ry sent out Jet and walked over to look at the painting she had been examining. Jet bent over and picked something up. "Sceptile," Jet said revealing a lime green stone with a wired symbol carved beneath it's surface. Ry touched it with his fingers and felt a strange sensation. "What is this?" He quietly asked himself.
"A Mega Stone, or a Sceptilite to be precise." Ry turned to see a woman in black clothing and blonde hair. He recognized her immediately. "You're Cynthia, the Sinnoh Leauge Champ!" Ry exclaimed.
She nodded and walked over to him and handed him a smaller stone, with the same pattern. "This is a key stone, and along with that Sceptilite, you will be able to expand your power with your Sceptile to new limits. To unlock the secrets of Mega Evolution."
"Wait, what is Mega Evolution?" Ry asked.
Cynthia gave a faint smile and said, "It's a tempory evolution that can only be unlocked with the right stones, the right Pokemon, and a strong bond. And now you have all of those things to Mega Evolve your Sceptile."
Ry stood with his jaw wide open. She smiled and said, "Do you wanna give it a test out?" Ry nodded and said, "Let's rock Jet!" Jet stepped forward. Cynthia took a step back and sent out a Garchomp, who was wearing a necklace with the same kind of stone Jet had found, exept it was purple. Cythia revealed a bracelet with her stone and said, "This is your Key Stone, and you hold it. Your Pokemon holds the other. Then you touch your stone and let the power between you grow." She gently touched the stone with her pointer finger and lines of energy came out of each stone and connected, creating an array of dazzling light. Then in the place of Garchomp, stood a Mega Garchomp.
"Okay Jet, wanna give that a try?" Ry eagerly asked. Jet shook his head. Ry gave a slight frown, but he understood. Jet didn't want to. "Okay we'll battle you without it."
"Are you sure? Without Mega Evolving, our Pokemon weren't evenly matched."
"Yes. If Jet desn't want to then we won't use it. Now use Leaf Blade!" Ry shouted. Jet charged his leaves in green energy and charged the Mega Garchomp.
"Slash, then Draco Meoter!" Cynthia comanded with an amazing amount of power in her voice. Garchomp easily parried away Jet's Leaf Blade and fired a ball of orange energy at the sky, which exploding firing shrapnel of rocks flying. Jet got nailed and he stumbled back.
"We can stop if you want to." Cynthia said. Jet shook his head and Ry said, "Me and Jet feel the same way here. We can't give up. It's not everyday, you get to beat the champion in a Pokemon Battle! Now use Aerial Ace!" Jet supercharged himself in white energy and charged Garchomp.
Cynthia smiled at Ry's confidence. "You won't win that easily! Dragon Rush!" Cynthia thought to herself, "With passion like that this boy will go far." Garchomp encased himself in purple energy and charged Jet's attack head on. A huge explosion rocked the ruins. Garchomp jumped out of the smoke, seemingly unharmed. When the smoke cleared, Jet was struggling to say standing.
"Are you sure you don't wanna Mega Evolve." Cynthia shouted at the duo.
Simultaneously both trainer and Pokemon shook their heads. "Go Leaf Blade!" Ry yelled. "We are gonna win without having to Mega Evolve!" Jet rushed forward with his leaves ready to strike. he swung downward.
"Dragon Claw!" Cynthia shouted. Garchomp caught the attack and blocked it with a draw between the two. "Finish it with Dragon Rush!" Cynthia roared. Garchomp lowered his head nad tackled Jet away straight into a wall.
"Jet, you can do this!" Ry yelled at his fallen friend. Jet struggled to stand once more. "Sceptile!" He shouted. "Okay use Leaf-" But Ry was stopped by the collapse of Jet. he rushed to his friend's side.
"Good job," Ry said returning Jets his pokeball. Mega Garchomp reverted back to his regular form and Cynthia said, "Keep the stones, in case you ever change your mind."
Ry nodded and left to heal Jet.
That night Ry looked out the window, with Jet's pokeball in his hand. "I wonder what's in store for us," he thought silently.
