A few days later.
The three had met back at the Vomiting Dragon. Leed had gotten there first, by virtue of the fact that he was staying there. Rolen came next, slightly worried at how small the amount of information he had to share was. And the last to arrive was Raylith. She had been unsure of whether to keep the rendezvous at all. But then she had realized the importance of this research and has delved into it, so much so that she had been late.
Now they all sat at a table. Leed had ordered drinks for them, and Rolen dipped as he waited to begin. Leed looked at him and said,
“Rolen, you first.”
“I didn’t get very much... he said that the queen disappeared during a banquet. She left complaining of a headache, and presumably went to her room. There was supposed to be a political meeting the next day.”
“Thank you...”
Leed paused for a moment, thinking.
“Raylith, what did you find?”
Raylith leaned forward over the book.
“The primary things detailed by the book are the powers of the Crown... the control thing seems to be the most important... but it also increases the magical capabilities of the person wearing it... and...”
She paused as she flipped through the pages to the one with the runes.
“The Crown is made of special materials that grant the different properties. The different gems provide different properties. And the Crown is nearly indestructible. Made out of a rare metal that looks like gold, but much more durable. Of course, it is imbued with enchantments as well...”
There was a few minutes of silence as they all thought. Leed was very interested. This was important... Rolen was surprised at how powerful the Crown was. He had thought it was a normal crown. Leed spoke up first.
“This is... important. Alright. You two see if you can find out anything else... I’m going to the castle.”
“What!”
Once again Rolen and Raylith shouted in unison.
“I need to check out a theory of mine... I will leave tomorrow morning. I may be a while. Keep up your research while I am absent.”
He stood up as if the matter was settled. The two teenagers were a bit confused. Rolen wondered how Leed would even get inside the royal Palace, and Raylith wanted to know what Leed was looking for.
