The Alolan life awaits

by Wonderbowful

Wonderbowful Eien ni Melody is tired of the mundane Unova music scene and decides to move to a new region with her and her band. But what region does she pick? The luscious and beautiful islands of Alola!
You can hear it. You can feel it. The power of music is quite potent. These words rang to me ever since I got into making music. My father was very proud of me pursuing it as it seemed to be almost second nature to me after those few years of marching band. Ever since I started my own band, I was getting tired of the Unova scene. It was starting to dull and people's tastes weren't as fresh as I hoped. So, I started searching. I asked my old band friends, who had moved to other regions, and all except one said that I wouldn't care for it much; all except my Alolan friend. Marko, my Alolan friend, told me all about it; it's traditions, it's culture, but also it's gangs. "There's one last thing I must tell you before you move here. There are/were a couple of gangs here. The first team was Team Skull. They disbanded a year ago once the leader decided he wasn't gonna live that way anymore. I think he got beat by some kind of kid. The second is this new team; Team Heartbreak. I have no idea who they are, but they live in Po Town where Team Skull once took over. I heard that it looks more lush and the people are more friendly there, but I don't trust it..."
He continued to tell me that the best place for me to live is Melemele island, "trust me, it's way safer than having to possibly encounter a Team Heartbreak grunt in the middle of Ula'ula island."
About a few months after we talked, I packed my things and headed for Alola. Most of my band members joined along too and took the move out to there.

Marko was the first to greet us on Melemele island, "Alola, my dear friends glad to see you!" Marko is a dark man; dark curly hair frames his sweet, almost desirable, face. He had definitely grown since the last time we saw each other. He was a little smaller, only coming to the shoulders of my bassist who we lovingly named Danny-boy.
"You got the blue house on route two, am I correct?" Marko said in his heavy Alolan accent
"Yes! Are you gonna help me with my move?"
"But of course, Eien ni!"
We stayed up all day and all night moving the boxes I had packed from the boat at the docks to my quaint home on route 2. "Ah, the air is so fresh here!" I opened the doors to my back porch for the first time and let some of the Alolan moonlight seep in. Marko walked outside, "come here, I have a gift for you." In his hands was a pokeball containing a pokemon. It was one I had never even seen before. "This sweet lil' thing is a Magearna. Her name is Rosette and she is a mythical pokemon. She was given to me after a young trainer was done with her. She was very helpful to my grandmother while she was alive and now she is yours. I believe you'll have better use of her."
Rosette popped out of the ball and looked at me with bright robotic eyes. Charmingly and cheerfully, she waved at me. "Oh Marko, this is wonderful! I love her already! I'm sure Evie will too."
I released Evie from my pokeball and, almost automatically, she jumped up and hugged Rosette. They got along perfectly, like sisters. He handed me Rosette's pokeball as I set both her's and Evie's on the kitchen counter right inside my house. I went back out and looked at the moon with Marko. He lifted his arm up slightly as if he was going to put it over my shoulder,"May I?"
"Oh, uh, sure."
I stared captivated by the moon. It was bigger than it was in Unova and it seemed to glow brighter than any form of light; including that of the sun. It was untouchable and powerful. Even Marko, as pretty a boy he is, could not compare to that of the moon. In fact, he is much more weaker. Such a pity too, I would've dated him if he were only a tad stronger.

Marko crashed on my couch only an hour later. Instead of going to sleep myself, I went out to look for any other pokemon. I needed something useful, something strong. "Come on Rosette, you too Evie." Us three went looking up and down route 2 for any new pokemon when, out of nowhere, a Skarmory flies in front of us. She cawed at me, awaiting a battle. "Uh, oh, uhm ok. Evie! Use Quick Attack!" The move wasn't too effective. Skarmory then flew into the sky, but she dodged the attack. "That's it Evie! Use Charm!"
The Skarmory started to lighten up to us "That's it. It's time to catch."
I used a quick ball to catch her and luckily she didn't escape. Marko ran out of my house, "whoa! That's pretty rare. Normally, you find Skarmory like her on Ula'ula island. It's not everyday that you find them here. What are you gonna name her?"
A name?! I quickly thought of something mythical or extraordinary,"Aphrodite. Her name will be Aphrodite."
