The name "Team Paleogeo" comes from the prefixes "paleo" and "geo". Their theme is that of paleontology and geology, meaning they focus on fossils and Rock-and/or-Ground-Type Pokemon. The Grunts use Pokemon such as Geodude, Omanyte, Lunatone, Solrock, Lileep, Anorith, Cranidos, Shieldon, Bonsly, Roggenrolla, Sandile, Dwebble, Tirtouga, Archen, Tyrunt, Amaura, Rockruff, Mudbray, Sandygast, and Minior. That might seem like a lot of Pokemon, but there are a lot of these guys, so there's my logic.
The first time you encounter Team Paleogeo is outside of the Cyllage City Gym, after your battle. They're just a couple of Grunts, and Grant comes out to assist you in a double battle with them. It's not a particularly difficult battle, and the Grunts flee once you defeat them, but before they run, one of them gives away the information that there's something going on at Ambrette's Fossil Lab. Grant tells you to investigate, and so you do. When you reach the lab, you find a bunch of Grunts guarding a person in a lab coat. Once you clear the way and get to the person, he shuts the file he was bent over, walks towards you suavely, and introduces himself as Team Paleogeo's brightest scientist, Sticks. At this point, your rival busts in, sees Sticks with the files, and demands he return them. Sticks tells him that he simply can't do that, and an argument ensues, followed by a Grunt grabbing your rival and you battling Sticks. He has a party of three Pokemon: a Shuckle, a Gligar, and a Nosepass. When you defeat him, he walks off cooly again, taking the Grunts and the files with him. The staff thanks you and rewards you with a fossil, and you continue on your journey.
The next time Team Paleogeo interferes with your quest to become the very best like no one ever was is in Shalour City. They have taken over the Tower of Mastery. You climb the tower, fighting Grunts as you go, until you get to the top. At the uppermost level of the tower, you find Mid and Gurkinn. Mid is holding a Mega Ring triumphantly, and Gurkinn spots you and asks for your help, telling you that this Team Paleogeo Admin has defeated him and taken a Mega Ring as her prize. Mid introduces herself and challenges you to a battle. Her team consists of a Cubone, a Lycanroc Midnight Form, a Sudowoodo, and a Magcargo. When you defeat her, she too retreats without returning her prize. Gurkinn rewards the player with a Mega Ring, and again the journey continues.
Team Paleogeo's third appearance is in Anistar City. Once again, the Grunts are protecting their Scientist at work. Your rival teams up with you to whoop their butts and you get to the Sundial, where Rex and Blu are helping Sticks collect samples from the Sundial. The two Admins challenge you to a battle in order to buy Sticks more time. Both of them have teams of five Pokemon. Rex has an Aerodactyl, Rhydon, Steelix, Piloswine, and Pupitar. Blu has a Nidoqueen, Quagsire, Phanpy, Vibrava, and Marshtomp. When you and your rival defeat them, they argue over who was being a burden to who until Sticks intervenes and tells them that he's finished. He then challenges you to a battle out of pure curiosity to see how much stronger you've gotten. His team's improved since the last fight. Gligar has evolved into Gliscor, Nosepass is now Probopass, he still has Shuckle, and two new members have been added: Relicanth and Bastiodon. You defeat him, and he leaves with the others. Your rival makes a smart-aleck remark about how Team Paleogeo never returns what they lost, and you continue doing what you were previously doing.
The fourth time you encounter Team Paleogeo is outside the Pokemon Village. Their leader is confronting Xerneas with a strange stone. She tells the player that her name is Swift and refers to the stone as the "key to the ultimate goal." Swift then thrusts the stone into the air. It gives off a glow that caasts a rainbow of colors, and Xerneas fades as the light grows more intense. Your rival rushes to the scene right in the middle of this and faints due to fear. Swift grabs him and flies off on her Aerodactyl before you can do anything. Overhearing a conversation between two Grunts tells you that something big is going down in Glittering Cave. You go there and discover that Team Paleogeo's base is deep in the cave. After storming it and defeating the hordes of Grunts inside, the Admins confront you. You battle them. Mid has a Marowak, her Lycanroc Midnight Form, Sudowoodo, Magcargo, and Kabutops. Blu's team is Nidoqueen, Quagsire, Donphan, Flygon, Swampert, and Omastar. Rex battles with Tyrantrum, Rhyperior, Steelix, Mammoswine, Tyranitar, and Gastrodon. When you beat them, you progress to Sticks' lab. In a chamber behind a glass window, the stone that Swift was holding and another one are on two separate pedestal things. On the other side of the room is your rival. Sticks tells you that he's a part of the test run of Swift's plan, then challenges you to a battle with his team of Gliscor, Probopass, Shuckle, Relicanth, Bastiodon, and Claydol. When you beat him, your rival wakes up and Sticks flips a switch. The two stones glow intensely, and a chunk of something lowers from the ceiling. Sticks tells you that this is the sample from the Sundial, which is combined with other substances, to supercharge Xerneas and Yveltal to the point where they fuse to create an incredibly powerful Pokemon. Just before the fusion happens, Yveltal absorbs your rival's life force, killing them the same way that it kills a character in the anime(turning them to stone). Sticks looks incredibly disturbed and falls to his knees. He gets up and apologizes for everything, and tells you that he will help you take down Swift. Mid and Blu walk in, having overheard everything, and say that they're in. The four of you confront Swift, who has the Mega Ring that Mid stole, and is in the room with the Xerneas and Yveltal fusion-thing. Mid and Blu take on a few Grunts to ensure that you get to Swift. Rex bursts in and challenges Sticks, calling him and the others out on being traitors. Swift talks about how she wanted to gain immortality by using the two Legendary Pokemon(Who, by the way, are still fused and rampaging in the test area behind the protective glass), then take over the Kalos region. She then glares at you and pulls a Lusamine, saying something like, "But YOU! YOU got in the way!" This is followed by her challenging you to a battle. Her team is Mega Steelix, Donphan, Rhyperior, Gigalith, Aurorus, and Lycanroc Midnight Form. Upon defeat, she is predictably infuriated. Claiming that her plan WILL be successful, she presses a button and the protected glass slides down. Swift then uses her Mega Ring, further supercharging Xerneas-Yveltal to Mega Evolution standards. The fusion Pokemon turns on her, however, and turns her to stone. It battles with you, and when you defeat it, un-fuses, then flees. Sticks tells you that you have to restore the two Legendary Pokemon in order to save your rival and that only Zygarde can do this. Rex is absolutely peeved and gets some recruits to beat you to Terminus Cave. You get there, battle a few Grunts and an unchanged team of Rex's before reaching Zygarde. It battles you and you have the opportunity to catch it, and once you defeat or capture it, you take it to Lumiose City, where the amalgamation of a Pokemon is rampaging. Zygarde gets the Pokemon to un-fuse, and Yveltal flies off to an area off of Kiloude City(You have the chance to catch it in the postgame). Xerneas battles you, giving you the opportunity to catch it as well, then you go back to Team Paleogeo's base and revive your rival. Sticks, Mid, and Blu tell you that they're going to try to work to make Team Paleogeo better, and you say farewell as you go to defeat the Pokemon League.
UGH, the last part was basically me just trying to wrap it up and doesn't really make a whole ton of sense. I apologize, but I've been working on this for like a week and just wanted to finish it and upload it. I promise, the revised one will be better when I upload that.
