(Hey guys! To make the tutorial phases go faster (so I can get into an area where I can express my creativity) I will be writing these scenes instead of illustrating them. Don't worry, it's only for this page!)
"The greedy princess coveted the Ninetails. She needed the pokemon for her collection. She needed the pokemon to feel whole." Tapu Lele continued telling her story. "She began to try and convince the Ninetails to be her partner. She bribed him. She pleaded with him. She threatened him. Ninetails held steady. Ninetails did not want trainer. Ninetails constantly told the princess that he did not want to partner with her. The princess grew mad. She told the Ninetails, "If you refuse to be my partner voluntarily, I swear with all of my heart, I will force you to." The pokemon did not take her seriously. She scoffed in the princesses face and went home. This would be a fatal mistake on the Ninetails' part.
"The greedy princess brought her troubles to the royal scientists. She commanded them to work on a solution that would force pokemon to partner with someone. As the scientists worked, she had the humans declare war on the pokemon. The humans, armed with spears, knives, torches, and other rudimentary tools. They began to attack the pokemon. The pokemon were stronger than the humans. They used their elemental powers to fight back.
"The greedy princess grew impatient. She was upset that her team was loosing. She hired even more scientists to work on the new technology. She started a draft within her kingdom, forcing people to fight her battles. A few months later, the technology was complete."
"No!" Melody gasped. "Yes." Tapu Koko responded sadly.
"A scientist named Mr. Harmonia had crafted something he liked to call a "Pokeball"". Tapu Lele sighed, "He gave the item to the greedy princess. She had a guard bring up a prisoner from the Pokemon side to test the new technology. She threw the ball at the pokemon. It worked. Once released from the ball, the pokemon would, unwillingly, follow the princesses every command. The princess set up a trap, to end the war once and for all.
"The princess ordered her troops to retreat, creating a false sense of security in the Pokemon. They stormed the castle, with the Ninetails at the lead. They burst into the princesses chambers, to find her calmly sitting on her bed. The Ninetails strode forwards, thrusting his face close to the princess's. She gasped. "It's over." The Ninetails sneered as a cheer rose through the crowd. The princess met his gaze. "Now!!!" she screamed. Hundreds of guards wielding pokeballs leapt from hiding areas in the room. They threw them at the attackers, leaving only Ninetails.
""I'll ask you one more time. Do you want to be my partner, Ninetails?" The princess asked with a smile on her face. The Ninetails refused. The greedy princess took out the strongest pokeball in her collection. The Master Ball. She captured the Ninetails, and placed him on her nightstand.
"The princess continued the legacy of catching pokemon instead of befriending them. As time passed, humans lost their abilities to communicate with pokemon. This tradition has carried on to this very day." Tapu Lele finished. Melody wiped tears from the corners of her eyes. "T-that's terrible." She sobbed. "But why are you telling me this? What's so important that you gave me the ability to speak to pokemon?" "Because we believe that you can change the past." Tapu Koko responded.
"Me? Why me?" Melody asked. "Hah, so many questions!" Tapu Lele smiled. "We know that you had a special partner in Kanto." "Coco... You know about her?" Melody exclaimed. "Of course. We were shocked that you never caught her. You befriended her, just like in the past." Tapu Koko responded. "We need to to beat the island challenge without catching any pokemon. Your Popplio doesn't count, because you didn't catch her. Once you beat the challenge, spread your influence to young trainers. If you succeed, we believe that things will go back to the way they used to." "I'll try my best!" Melody cheered. "Good. We must let you wake up, or your friends will be worried." The Tapus smiled. "Good luck, young Melody!" Melody waved goodbye as her dreams faded to black.
