"Um, hey, Lucas," I said. "Wasn't expecting to see you here today."
"Yeah, me too. Who are they?" Lucas said pointing to Flame and Mal.
Jamie turned around to see Flame and Mal. "Yeah, who are they?"
"They're people we met," I answered. "Want to introduce yourselves?"
Flame and Mal stepped forward. "I'm Flame."
Lucas squinted at Flame. "You battled Dim yesterday, didn't you?" he asked.
"Yep." Flame said.
"Alright, and who's she?" Jamie blurted out, pointing to Mal.
"I'm Mal." she said.
"Now that's out of the way," Jamie said. "I have to ask you guys, what are you doing with your pokemon? The cafe has it's own place for pokemon."
A place for pokemon? "Really?" I said.
"Yes, did your waiter slash waitress tell you?" Lucas said.
There was no warning from our waitress we were supposed to leave our pokemon. Sneasel and Riolu turned their heads in understanding to see me. If I leave them, would they miss me? Would they be safe?
"No." Mal said.
"Well go ask the guy at the cash register, he could have something to say." Jamie said.
We turned around and went to 'the guy with the cash register'. I tapped on the counter to get his attention. He turned from the register to me.
"Hello." he said.
"Hey there," I said. "I heard the pokemon have their own place to eat, right?"
"Mm-hmm, it's right over there!" he said, pointing to the department across from us.
The department across from us was called Pikachu's Playland. Inside of Pikachu's Playland was a jungle gym, I could see pokemon ranging from Bulbasaur to Jangmo-o going up the rickety ladders and down the long, smooth, plastic slides. I could see Jamie's Deino and Lucas's Rowlet having a play fight. Rowlet lightly slapped Deino, which angered him. Deino brought back his head and smashed it down to hit Rowlet, but Rowlet skidded away in no time.
Flame, Mal, Stephanie, and I walked over to Pikachu's Playland, but once we got to the door, we were introduced by someone. That 'someone' was a woman in black clothing and a black bandanna with a white pokeball on it.
We're meeting a bit of new people today, huh. I thought. I wonder if I'll actually remember them during my journey.
"Hi!" Stephanie said.
"Hello!" she said. "I believe you came from Combee Cafe?"
"Yes, we did." Mal said.
"Great!" she said. "You four are lucky to be on time, we were just about to be full."
What a relief.
The woman took out her hands to pick up Sneasel and Riolu, but Sneasel dug his tiny claws into my shirt, while Riolu kept tight onto my other half of the shirt.
"Um," I mumbled. "You don't to worry, we will be back."
At that point, Riolu and Sneasel were being carried away. The feeling of having less pressure on my shoulders seemed strange. I was already getting used to the feeling of having Sneasel and Riolu on my shoulders. The memory foam of Sneasel and Riolu was fading away.
"C'mon, let's go." Flame said. Eevee and Pichu weren't on his shoulders. Looks like I was spending too much time thinking about stuff.
I stared down at my chicken and waffles, scraping pieces off with my fork, then putting them in my mouth. It seems lonely without Sneasel and Riolu, I can't believe I've grown so close to them during the tiny amount of time I spent with them. Everyone was talking to each other, but for me, I had my mouth filled with chicken. It always seemed like I was the introvert of the group. I would see everyone talking to each other except for me. It wasn't that they were ignoring me, no, they wouldn't do that. I guess I just wasn't included in this kind of stuff. Before today and yesterday, I was a shut-in, who liked reading and writing. I didn't stay so much in the living room, the bright lights were annoying, and I liked it silent. Even now feels strange to me.
