One day an Azumarill was boasting about his high speed stat and how fast he could run to
all his friends including the Torkoal. He laughed at the Torkoal
who was slow. The Torkoal streched out his long neck and
challenged the Azumarill to a race, which, of course, made the
Azumarill laugh.
"My, my, what a joke!" mocked the Azumarill. "A race, indeed, a
race. Oh! What fun! My, my! A race, of course, Mr.
Torkoal, we shall race!" said the Azumarill
The rest of the Pokemon met and planned out the racecourse.
The Torkoal and the Azumarill stood at the starting line.
"Pew!" went the Seedot's Bullet Seed. The race begun and the Azumarill,
being such a swift runner, soon left the Torkoal far behind
who was still making his way at the starting line. About
halfway through the course, the Azumarill stopped to look for
the Torkoal. He realized that he had plenty of time to
beat the slow trodden Torkoal that was still near the
starting line.
"Oh, my!" thought the Azumarill, "I have plenty of time to play,
eat and rest for a bit in the meadow here." And so he did.
After the Azumarill finished playing, he decided that he had
time to take a little nap. "I have plenty of time to beat
that Torkoal," he thought. and he cuddles up against a
tree and dozed.
The Torkoal, in the meantime, continued to plod on, no
matter how slow he was. He never stopped but took one
good step after another.
The Azumarill finally woke up from his nap.
"Time to get going," he thought. And
off he went faster than he had ever
run before! He dashed as quickly as
anyone ever could up to the finish line,
where he met the Torkoal, who had
completed the race and was patiently,
awaiting his arrival.
Moral of the story: Never give up any matter how much time it might take. Slow and steady wins the
race.
