Xerione layed Volt’s body into the hole that she and Flannere dug, tears falling down her cheeks. She slowly pushed the dirt over his grave. Xerione made a small grave from sticks and stones. “For what little time you were with me, you were a great partner. Thank you, Volt. I’m sorry.” One last tear fell from Xerione’s cheek as she walked away from the grave.
“I’m a horrible trainer…” Xerione murmured. “I’m so sorry, Flannere. I understand if you don’t want me as your trainer.” She lowered her head. “I was right. The pair arrived at the gym. It was a large, white building with a black dome on top. The sign in front read “Santalune City Photography Museam/Gym”. Xerione smiled at Flannere, and entered.
Hundreds of photos hung on the walls of the gym. They were all of Bug Pokemon, either flying or on flowers. “I may not like bug pokemon, but that is pretty!” Flannere declared. “Yeah, I agree.” Xerione smiled. Suddenly, a man walked up to her. “Hey, future champ! You are challenging the gym, right?” He asked. “Yes, that is my intention.” Xerione responded. “Nice! Since you have 6 pokemon, you’ll beat Viola for sure!” He smiled. “Six pokemon? I only have Flannere here…” “YOU ONLY HAVE ONE POKEMON?!” The man gasped, taken aback. Xerione was shocked by his tone. “Yeah. S-so what?” She was afraid to ask. “Well, Voila has two pokemon with her! Both bug types. But if you’re so confident, why not? Just go down that pole!” “Okay then! Thanks!” Xerione rested one hand on the pole. It was extremely cold. “Well, bombs away!” She picked up Flannere, and placed her on her shoulder. “D-Don’t touch me! Baka!” Flannere protested. Xerione took two steps back. Then, she sprinted forward. Her hands grabbed onto the pole as she wrapped her legs around it. With a loud wooshing sound, the pair swooped down the pole and into the gym.
