Xerione pushed open the door to Café Soiel. Loud music was blaring from speakers attached to the walls. Girls dressed in anime schoolgirl uniforms walked around, carrying trays of food. Xerione felt extremely awkward. “Hey! Xeri, over here!” Yvonne called, waving. Xerione plopped down into a booth next to her. “What kind of place IS this?” Xerione asked. “It’s a cosplay café! Today’s theme is the anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzuyiama!” Yvonne exclaimed. “I don’t like it very much.” Xerione muttered. “Aww, are you feeling MELANCHOLY?!” Yvonne punned. Xerione slammed her face into the table. (Author’s note: Not really, she just facepalmed).
A girl walked up to their table. She had short brown hair, tied with two yellow ribbons. She wore a schoolgirl uniform like the rest of the girls serving, but had a red armband. “Hey! You’re brigade leader orders you to order!” She exclaimed. “Hold on, just let me think!” Xerione protested. “Faster. FASTER! I haven’t got all day!” The girl exclaimed impatiently. “Fine. I’ll have some mint tea.” Xerione sighed. “I’ll have bubble tea!” Yvonne exclaimed. “Okay then. Watch now, the show is starting!” The girl dashed off.
Xerione looked at Yvonne. Yvonne shrugged. Suddenly, the lights in the café turned on. A spotlight shone on the stage, where three girls were standing. One of them was the waitress that served the girls earlier. Music started to play as the girls began to dance.
Xerione was extremely impressed by the performance. When the show ended, the crowd burst into applause.
(A few minutes later…)
A girl walked over to the table. She was the same girl as before, but with no costume on. Xerione recognized her instantly. “D-Diantha?!” Xerione gasped.
