And take every color on the sprite you can find, pick it, put them in a row from light to dark, then decide what colors you want to recolor it as and use the color wheel to create a similar set of colors to replace the original with :3

Ayyyy sorry if I sounded rushed then, I had English class in like 5 minutes so I couldn't give you my own method of sprite recoloring, I can now!~

Ok, so check out https://www.spriters-resource.com (The Spriters Resource) for your base sprites. They have all sorts of stuff. Save the sprite to your desktop, then open it in GIMP. Use the little eyedropper tool to select each color that is on the sprite and draw a square of each from lightest to darkest. Then, decide what colors you will be recoloring it with and make a light to dark scale with the same number of colors as the first.
Then use the paint bucket to recolor patch by patch, but be sure to set the buckets "threshold" to like 0!

It's really quite simple.

Also paint.net is the name of the program, not the url.
Search for paint.net download :3

I can get GIMP up and running, but I've followed instructions and have no idea how to sprite recolor..... and whenever I type in paint.net it brings me to a website where you can but paint or stuff like that.

Hm I'm not sure If GIMP won't work then try paint.net or Krita, they're nice too :3

I used and app called 8 Bit Painter on my phone to make each frame, then put them together with another app called GIF Maker.

I could have easily done the same thing all with just GIMP but I didn't have my laptop with me xD
