DESIGN PROCESS

So I started to think what I could do for a Bug type gym leader. This type can be very diverse if you think about it a bit. And looking at the previous bug type trainers there are a few original things done. Especially in more recent games. Think of Burgh and Viola. But I wanted to beam the originality to the top. And because I myself are really into drag, I thought; "Why not a drag queen". It's something so original and you barely see it in media. So thought to represent this performance art in a unique way. So I made them a gym leader. Something gamefreak would never do. I was also inspired from Effie Trinket's iconic butterfly dress. And It kinda looked like a certain Vivillion pattern. So the ace pokemon was also pretty easy. (Although Viola also had one... But Viola she had a pink one so imma count this). The name was also pretty funny to think about. Miss Tyria sounds like mysterious but Tyria is also a rare type of moth. Beautiful I'm so smart. Of course this is their performing name. Their real name is Anthony Rolf... Get it ANThony hahaha. God I'm stupid!

HISTORY

Anthony Rolf was born on the 6th of May in the year 1994. In the Hoenn region, the boy that ran away to live his own life. Anthony was born and raised in the then rapidly growing Rustboro City, very close to the petalbutg woods. This is where he he found his love for bug type pokemon, as early as he could walk and his parents took him to walks through the woods. This was also the place he often played in during his childhood with a lot of other kids. Often becoming friends with all sorts of bug type pokemon. But one specific pokemon became his absolute best friend, a Scatterbug. They always played together in the Forrest and even outside of it. And a few years swiftly passed. The year is 2004, and Anthony is 10 years old, the age to embark on his very own pokemon journey. And instead of choosing a starter pokemon. He instead choose to go on a journey through the hoenn region with his beloved Scatterbug.

In this journey he found out about contests, which he absolutely loved and competed in all the time. And although collection badges was his number one goal. Gaining contest ribbons was also on his to fo list. A year goes by, it's 2005 and Anthony is 11 years old. He starts feeling les and less like himself. And although this was a negative start, it ended up being the best thing that ever happened to him. Trying to feel like himself he starts to try all sorts of different thing he'd never done before trying to find something he loved. He starts getting influenced by all sorts of things and quickly becomes overwhelmed. But the few friends he had and his bug type pokemon pulled him through it all. Throughout his journey he met a lot of trainers and coordinators alike. And got very influenced by a few coordinators in specific. Those coordinators were drag queens. He loved to watch it. It seemed so interesting, a performance art where you dress up. He wanted to try it so badly. And so a couple of years later, he finally pieced together the courage to do it for a contest. It was just a simple orange dress he made with one friend, and he even ended up winning that contest.

He found out that drag was his calling. This is what he wanted to do. Pokemon battles, pokemon contests and drag. He already knew himself that he was gay. But he didn't want to tell his parents yet, who were very conservative. So this is why he was scared to do so. Scared he'd get abandoned. "So he didn't do it yet until the grand festival of Hoenn one year later in 2006 when he was 12 years old. He had collected 5 ribbons so he was allowed to compete. This is where his parents, who were watching it, found out. And most of the fears he had about it. Came true. They practically disowned him. But this was not the end. After placing third in the grand festival he did get approached by so many new opportunities. Which he fully took advantage of. And that same year. He and some friends traveled to the Hudson region to try and make it there. And again Anthony took on the gym challenge and the contests challenge. And he met so many new people who did accept him. Even going as far to call Elizabeth (the normal type gym leader) his adoptive mother. Which she is completely fine with. She was also the one who trained him in Pokemon battles even more. To the point he was actually on part with her strength. He became an absolute icon in Hudson's contest scene. And it was only a short few years later, in 2009, he was only 15 years old when he won Hudson's grand festival and he still remained the most loved winner of the history of Hudson's grand festival.

His popularity and sheer power with bug type pokemon lead him to be a gym leader. He took over the previous bug type gym in 2010 when he was 16 years old. He completely transformed the gym from a serene place to a drag club. In this club he would often let other drag queens perform just to show love to them. And every night he had one gym battle. With someone who was willing to take the gamble. He himself would make always a different show of his entrance. But was always recognizable. Since he wore the same iconic butterfly dress since he opened his gym. In the color of the dress that he wore in his first contest. Orange is now just now a nostalgic color for him. He's now also a official contest judge in Hudson. And after every grand festival he has a contest battle with the winner for the prize to take his place as judge, yet he has never lost this. And his schedule is quite full. But he makes time for a gym battle every night in his club/gym which he named; Insects club. Stupid but he wasn't creative enough with names. And now it's well known so the name can't be changed easily. In 2015 when he was 21 years old he started a drag haus, Haus of Tyria. For everyone who wanted to be themselves but couldn't for any reason at all. Just like he once was.

I will give him and every gym leader in the future a team of 6 which they can change up depending on how strong the opponent is. But here I mostly show up what their strongest and optimal team is. So here it is

CURRENT STATE.

Right now it’s the year 2020, The gym actually does really well with the public and he has become quite a staple in Hudson's pop culture. He inspired many other young trainers to do drag as well. And he is all to proud to call them part of the Haus of Tyria. And Elizabeth is also proud of him that he could become himself. And he doesn't call Elizabeth his adaptive mother anymore. Rather his real mom. His found family had become his real one. He's incredibly influential in the contest genre where he's still after 11 years the top of his game.
