Mega Camerupt (Pre-Reveal)

This is a piece I did for a fake Hoenn mega evolution contest I entered on Deviantart.

Unlike my usual Nega-Mega evolutions, I tried to make this design a little more natural and simple (or at least as simple as mega evolutions get anyway), and I wanted to have this mega evolved form emphasize Camerupt's enhancements and natural abilities. I also got the idea from Mega Blastoise to turn Camerupt's two humps into one giant volcano, while I took my idea from Nega-Mega Blastoise to add an extra volcano-hump on its head. Lastly, for a special touch, I gave Mega Camerupt a rock harness loosely based on saddles that real camels have

The way I did this piece was by first drawing it on paper, tracing it onto a sheet of primed matte board, and then painting it with acrylics. Afterwards, I scanned the painting onto my computer and used Photoshop to touch up certain areas, clean up the negative space, add outlines, and include the Mega Evolution symbol

Oh, as a fun little side note, the little patch of land that Mega Camerupt's standing is based on one of the battle arenas from the original Ruby and Sapphire games
