“Look out!” A young teen shouted as he scrambled up the rocky terrain. Flaming balls of molten rock descended upon him as he climbed. Making quick motions and jumps, he leapt out of the way, avoiding getting crushed. His name was Ryker Williams and he was a student at CoDA. CoDA is a superhero academy know worldwide through the hero community as Core of the Dragon Academy. It was a place where children could learn to harness their powers and hopefully become heroes.
Normally students didn’t get to go on field trips like Ryker was currently doing, but he was a bit special. He was the apprentice to Pro-Hero, Captain Rumble. So as a part of the boy’s training he often had to spend time doing missions with the hero, when Captain Rumble saw the need.
“Ryker! What did you do, son?” The broad shouldered man shouted as his path intertwined with Ryker’s. The master and apprentice duo ran side by side, while climbing up the mountainous terrain.
“Nothing major. I just called it a few names.” Ryker said shrugging, before he leapt over a large boulder in his path. The reason behind the destruction and chaos was actually because of a large molten monster who had seemed to have awoken on the wrong side of the bed.
“You really need to watch that mouth of yours.” Captain Rumble scowled at Ryker before stopping in his tracks and turning around. He examined the situation with wide eyes. “Okay kid. Listen up. I’ll go for a leg sweep, and i want your to finish it off. Avoid the lava. So you’ll have to hit the rocks.” Ryker gave a nod, as Captain Rumble began to dash down the mountain, gaining speed at an incredible rate.
Ryker grinned and followed suit, keeping some distance between himself and his master. And as he neared the beast, he was ready to pull something off. He sprung up, using his powers to boost his jump. Ryker’s unique ability was to absorb energy through damage and export it through his body. So he had increased the output of energy released by his knees, creating a massive jump and allowed him to build up speed. Then as he flew towards the beast, he watched as Captain Rumble tackled the beast’s left leg, casing it to lose it’s balance.
“Ryker Barrage!” Another aspect of Ryker’s powers was to use his energy to make clones of himself. It was an interesting power and Ryker often used it. One teenager boy became 50, and they all slammed against various points of the monster’s surface. And they kept their velocity from the jump, delivering tons of powerful blows across the magma monster’s body.
“Again with the naming your moves. It’s just too cocky and blunt. And you shout them when you pull them off. It’s pretty stupid.” Captain Rumble wasted no time, criticizing Ryker for his methods. The duo had disposed of the Magma monster and were already on the airship to take Ryker back to CoDA.
“I still did a good job.” Ryker taunted as they flew. Captain Rumble gave a simple smile and sigh to this. He could tell there was something special about this boy.
