Zack awoke to the sound of his alarm, and shut it off. He got out of bed, stretched his limbs, and looked out his window.
"Such a perfect day to get my first pokemon," Zack quietly announced to himself. He then took a shower, combed his hair in a quiff, and got dressed into his dark red shirt with orange highlights and fire type emblem on it, as well as bright orange shorts, his white gloves, and crimson sneakers. To top it off, he adjusted his white sports glasses, with orange lenses. After picking up his backpack, he headed downstairs to say bye to his father.
"Well son, all I can say is good luck, make me proud, and I love you!" His father said as he messed up Zack's red-orange hair.
"I promise to to do my best, Dad. I will make you and Mo-... Mom proud..." Zack stuttered the last part. Ever since his mother passed him and his father had to change a lot of things around the house, it wasn't easy losing her.
"I'm sure you will, son. Now get out there, Flygon is ready to drop you off in Pallet," His father told him as he was given one last hug.
"I won't let you down!" Zack yelled as he ran out the door. Then he hopped on Flygon, patted him on the head, and they were zooming off to Pallet.
When they arrived, Zack pat Flygon on the head, and it took off back to Fuchsia. Zack waited till flygon was out of view, and sped off towards Oak's lab, wind flying through his hair. Once reaching the lab, he walked in and was greeted by Oak, Zack's rival Gyro, and Hazel, a girl from around town.
"Typical Zack, always showing up last." Gyro teased. "Don't get smart with me Gyro, you live in Pallet, you can't call me out." Zack snapped back.
"Oh really? Then how did Hazel beat you here? You both live in Fuchsia." Gyro replied. "Ok just, forget it. I have more important things to do then mess with a kid who has a name of a pokemon move." Zack commented, walking up to Oak. The professor was definitely older than seen on TV but that was fine to Zack.
"So professor, may I please choose my pokemon now that everyone is here?" Hazel chimed in. "Well by doing simple math, you would have beaten Gyro here if you lived in Pallet, so you may pick first." Zack prayed she wouldn't pick which one he wanted, and thankfully, she didn't.
Ok bubbles, come on out!' she excitedly shouted as the water type burst from its ball, spilling water and landing in Hazel's arms.
"Statistically, bulbasaur is the best choice for a starter, but I love squirtle, and he is second best, so that's why I chose him!" Hazel explained.
"Yeah yeah, whatever. My turn!" Gyro responded, reaching for the charmander ball. Quickly, Oak slapped his hand. "OUCH!" Gyro yelled in pain, "The heck was that for?!"
"As I calculated, Zack would have beaten you here as well, Gyro." The professor told him. "What? So unfair!" Gyro responded.
"Now Zack." The professor said. "Choose your first pokemon."
