Kanto Journey: Kanto Journey Chapter 4: Brock

by Hotshot14380

Hotshot14380 Chapter 4 is up!!! Sorry, it took a while. In this series, Zack, a character I use often, is on his very first journey. The journey that sets him off to traveling all the regions, and becoming a true pokemon master.
As Zack and Hazel arrived in Pewter, they took a moment to take in the views, there were some cool things in Pewter, but before sightseeing, Hazel and Zack needed a pokemon center, from there close battle earlier.
While waiting for their pokemon to be healed, Zack and Hazel talked about the future of their adventure.
"So Zack... I was thinking..." Hazel said slowly. Zack could tell it was something serious based on her tone.
"Yeah Hazel? What's up?" Zack asked her.
"I wanted to know, if we could travel full time together from here on out. I know we could just meet up at other places, but I feel like it would be a more fun and better experience traveling along with you all the time. I don't know, maybe-" Zack interrupted her. "Of course you can! That would be awesome!" Zack said happily, maybe a bit too fast to jump at the chance.
"Well if you're that sure it's ok, then great! It will be so fun traveling with you!" Hazel exclaimed happily as there pokemon were wheeled out. Zack grabbed his pokeballs and sent out Torch, while Hazel sent out Bubbles. Both of them could tell they were gonna be great friends.
Zack then decided, because there was a rock type gym coming up, it would be best to train his pokemon some more. Torch was going to struggle if he didn't get stronger soon, so him and Hazel backtracked a bit to Viridian forest. Hazel didn't train for long, she didn't need to. She had two pokemon on her team that would crush the gym leader. Zack on the other hand, worked for a couple hours with Torch, increasing his skill, their trust, bond, and friendship. Quake however, he didn't train nearly as much, because he was already going to pound some rock. Finally the two returned to Pewter, and got ready for their very first, gym battle. Zack and Hazel were both nervous, excited, and determined. They walked into the gym, were greeted by a man and suggested the pokemon they should use. Then they approached a person with his eyes squinted and spiky hair.
"Welcome young travelers! Welcome to the Pewter City gym. I am Brock the gym leader, and I specialize in rock type pokemon. Now, who will challenge me first?" Brock asked introducing himself. He was pretty nice for a gym leader, or maybe Zack thought gym leaders intimidating. Either way, Zack stepped up.
"I will battle you first, Brock" Zack said determined. Walking up to him, with a serious look on his face.
"Alright little man, just be prepared, I'm not going easy on you!" Brock said, walking over to his side of the arena. Zack took his spot in the rocky field. Hazel took a seat in a rock, excited to see how this battle would turn out.
"Go, geodude!" "Torch let's get it!" Both trainers called out, as they both exposed there pokemon.
"Let's start things off bud, use Dragon rage!" Zack yelled out, and the charmeleon launched the beam of power at the geodude. Brock underestimated the fire type, expecting it use a simple normal type move, or maybe a fire type move. The attack hit the geodude dead center in the face, sending it flying back, and it was KO'd. Brock returned the helpless geodude.
"Go, Onix! Use rock tomb!" Brock yelled, sending out the gigantic rock snake pokemon. It let out a roar, and launched several rocks at Torch. The lizard pokemon dodged a few, but was pelted by several of the rocks. Luckily, Torch held on, but he couldn't take another hit. Not wanting Torch to go down, he returned Torch.
"Go! Quake! Use double kick!" Zack yelled, sending out the little purple pokemon. Zack and Quake planned for this moment, so the nidoran knew exactly what to do, giving the onix no time to react, and smashed it in the head.
"Now let's show no mercy Onix, use bide!" Brock yelled as the Onix wrapped it's rough tail around Quake. The nidoran struggled, but couldn't escape its grasp.
"No! Quake come on you can do this bud!" Zack encouraged. Quake stopped struggling, as it began to glow with a bright blue light. Quake began to grow and change form, and when it calmed down, it was a newly evolved Nidorino. It broke free from the Onix's grasp, and got in charging position.
"Nice work Quake! Here we go! Use double kick!" Zack shouted, as the newly strengthened Nidorino charged at it's foe, releasing an even more powerful series of kicks onto the Onix's head, causing it to fall to the ground with a WHAM!
"U-Unbelievable! Your bond with your pokemon is... is beyond anything I've ever encountered! I present to you with great honor, this Boulder Badge." Brock proclaimed, handing him the grey rock shaped metal emblem. He proudly put it in his case, and sent out Torch. Zack hugged him, so tight it hurt the chameleon a bit.
"Great job partner, couldn't have done it without you." Zack told his pokemon.
"And don't think I forgot about you knucklehead! You had me worried sick!" He told his purple pal, hugging him as well. It hurt a bit, hugging spikes, but it was a small price to pay.
"That was such an intense and awesome battle, Zack! It could have used more strategy considering you could have simply allowed Torch to counter the-" "Thank you Hazel. Now it looks like it's your turn," Zack told her, making sure she didn't blabber to much. He sat on one of the rocks while her battle went on. She even evolved Bubbles into a Wartortle against the Onix. After Hazel's battle flew by with the advantage, Brock walked up to the two.
"You both will go on to be incredible trainers, I can tell. I feel no shame losing to you two, I helped in the evolution of two pokemon! How could I be down?" Brock said proudly, handing over Hazel's boulder badge.
"Now go my young love birds! Make me proud and win all the badges!" Brock stated. The last comment got Zack's face redder than Torch's skin.
"Ah, we aren't..." "He isn't!" "We aren't a thing!" They both said at the same, making them blush more.
"Oh? Must have miss read your faces, but seriously, do your best and work hard!" Brock teased, walking them out the gym.
"Well that was... awkward," Hazel declared, standing petrified.
"More like that was awesome! We got our first badge, and two of our pokemon evolved, how could it be awkward?" Zack asked, obviously getting over Brock's final comment quicker than Hazel.
"Because... Ah, nevermind. Better we leave it alone," Hazel commented, flushing. Zack was confused by her comment, but decided to not push.
"Well. One gym down, 7 to go. Let's get healed and hit route 3!" Zack notified, standing proud with his first badge. Hazel admired Zack for his bravery, courage, boldness, and belief in his pokemon, including much more about him. She didn't show it, but she did.
"Yea, let's get moving, I believe there is a species of pokemon ahead that would benefit my team incredibly." Hazel stated, following Zack to the Pokemon center.
