Kalina Paige-Essery is a student of magic who quickly finds herself in over her head when she gets roped into a murder case. She keeps a copy of 'The Collected Journals of Octavius Esry,' the seminal field guide to all of Ennen, on her at all times, which helps when she needs to research and/or club something. Unusually, her copy of the 'Collected Journals' is constantly updating itself and seems to have a mind of its own.
