DESIGN PROCESS

So I started to think what I could do for a fairy type gym leader. There are so many options since the fairy type is fairly recent. Only having four trainers who specialize in the type. From which 3 of those are girls. Bede whas the other one... But should we count him... I'm gonna count him. I'm saying this cuz I first had a ballerina in mind. But then I was like. "No let's go the absolute opposite of the fairy type. And make it a him, And because Guang already had taken the pastel boy trope, I then made him an emo/jock type." That sounded so funny so I did it. I then made him a soccer player and I wanted him to be a gamer but I ended up saying no to that. So yes... Now he's just an edgy teen in "the phase" and I love it. I live for it gurl yes. For his axe Pokemon I first had a Grimmsnarl in mind. But then I thought about the story and I was like noooooo. Let's do Azumarill. Hehehehe.

HISTORY

Flynn Lumis was born on January 19th in the year 2002. In the Hudson region, a boy destined to become a gym leader. Since his parents were both the gym leader of the Glosile Town gym in the Hudson region. This gym was a fairy type gym leader. His mother, Lianna, was the primary gym leader while his dad, Vincent, was actually the referee. But would often take Lianna's place as gym leader when she was not around. Which was approved by the league, since he was a pretty tough trainer himself. The catch was that he had to use the same type his wife specialized in. Which was the fairy type. So she trained him to become an amazing fairy type trainer even before Flynn was born. Thin meant that Flynn was basically raised among the fairy type Pokemon and was quick to get along with them. In his first years of his life he found a great first friend in the form of an Azuril, who started to copy him and that kinda stayed his thing forever. But they became great friend. That at the age of 6 His parents decided it was a good idea to give him the small baby Pokemon.

The year is 2012 and not long after Flynn turns 10 years old. The Azuril evolves into a Marill. After that his parents allowed him to go on a journey through the Hudson region. With his new partner Marill. Thay traveled the region for a while and befriending a bunch of fairy types which he got along with so well. But his whole journey was flipped upside down in 2013 after traveling for a year. He encountered a girl from around the same age, dressed in all black. This girl became his first ever crush. He talked a lot to the girl who seemed to lack any emotion. But he was still so captivated by her, that he did everything in his power. (I mean, to be honest, they were 11. So he couldn't do that much.) They started to bump into each other more and more and everytime they met Flynn started to become a bit influenced by her. Finding his own style and not only wearing his fairy type shit. But also slowly getting influenced in the way of personality. While still staying his awkward as hell self around the girl. It was about two years later in 2015 when Flynn was 13 that he actually found his own style and personality which his partner, now an Azumarill, automatically copied. Because he copied every single personality trait from him. Which also landed them in fights pretty often. Flynn also got a bit more aggressive as well. Sure it wasn't intended. But it was still uncalled for.

This aggressive personality soon ended once he started to play more sports then usual. Especially soccer, even developing a love and passion for the sport without being aggressive. The girl, called Iona, also started to get allong with him more and more, this was actually because Flynn finally learned self controll. And while getting to know her, he noticed that she wasn't the the emotionless freak that she seemed to be. And she was actually quite nice and sweet. The met up frequently to have a fun pokemon battle or to do something else fun. Flynn's infatuation to her was still there. But it was more controlled at this point. And not obsessive. Which she grew to love about him. The year is 2017, Both of them are 15 years old. The two have been growing closer ever since. And because Iona is not from Hudson but from Kalos, he decides to take her home with him, to Glosile Town, at the end of their journey. This was the place where they both fell in love with each other.

They stayed there for a very long time. Primarily training. Flynn was training to eventually take over the gym and Iona was training just to keep up with him. Now that they were basically living together, the got a lot more time to develop their relationship even tho they were still young. Iona occasionally went back to Kalos, where she came from. To her own family. And Flynn often tagged along with her. Just so her family could also see him. Flynn also joined the soccer team of his own town. And he kept practicing that as well. When they where 18 years old in the beginning of the year 2020. Something special happend. Lianna and Vincent decided to quit the gym leader job and put their focus completely on caring for the abundance of fairy pokemon in and around the town. And thus they let Flynn take over the gym. Around this time Flynn also turned captain of his soccer team which was winning games everywhere. He was basically thriving. Taking over the gym was a huge responsibility. Which luckily he hadn't had to do alone. Iona was always there to fill in his place when needed. Even going as far as to train regularly with fairy types so that she can maybe be as good of a trainer as he is. Flynn is now registered as the newest gym leader in the region. While Iona is registered as a possible fill in if absolutely needed. Just like Flynn's parents. This gym thing even made their relationship even better. And helped them to understand each other much more.

TEAM

I will give him and every gym leader in the future a team of 6 which they can change up depending on how strong the opponent is. But here I mostly show up what their strongest and optimal team is. So here it is

CURRENT STATE.

Right now it’s the year 2020, The gym doesn't attract a lot of public. Since trainers often go to all the well known gym leader. And since he is brand new the kinds of trainers he attracts are either trainers who think Lianna is still the gym leader. Or trainers who think that because he is new, that he's easily beatable. But then get surprised by his battle abilities. His mother even warned him that the public kinda needs to warm up to him and that this might happen. And thus he decided to train more for soccer and even in battles. But lately more people notice his potential and challenge him. Which he thinks is awesome. And although she didn't need to fill in yet, Iona is still ready for when that day comes.
