My second oil painting - this time in color.
I must say, I'm rather enjoying the medium!

Very evocative and rather well made too. I'm most impressed considering this is your second venture into oil painting. I can almost feel the spring breeze wafting from the painting!

As I mentioned to you earlier, I find this painting utterly gorgeous and absolutely love how you painted the sky. The mixture of different shades really did make me double-take to determine that this was a painting and not a photograph. Excellent work. I'm eager to see your next oil painting, too! ♥

Thank you - I'm still wrapping my brain around the medium and though it's moving a bit more naturally than I expected it would, I wouldn't get anywhere this level so quickly if not for my art instructor being utterly and completely awesome.
I'd imagine I'd probably get better at this with time, too. ^^Feb 19, 2015PrincessPika and Merciless Medic like this. -
I can tell just by looking at this painting that you put a lot of hard work & effort into this.
I'm sorry if I sound like a know-it-all, but you've really got a strong sense of composition, perspective, shading and rendering, and blending colors. I also like the way you handle your brush strokes, especially in regards to the tree and the grass, since your style of painting is dimple and slightly stylistic, while at the same time gives off a great sense of detail.
If anything, the only thing I could give constructive criticism on would be the red flowers. On one hand, the flowers give a strong sense of movement since they clearly stand out and they help to visually guide you through the rest of the painting. They also serve as one of the focal points of the painting, the other one being the tree. On he other hand, I also feel that the smears of red that are right beside the tree make the flowers feel a little too overpowering, which makes me focus on them more than the rest of the painting.
Other than that, this a great painting and you should definitely be proud of all of the hard work you put into making this.Feb 19, 2015PrincessPika and Psycho Monkey like this. -
