Defending Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

by DopeLeafeon470

DopeLeafeon470
I’ve heard a lot of stupid complaints about this game.

People can not like it, sure, and I’m not trying to change their opinion. You can think what you want about Ultimate, but you shouldn’t go on without at least knowing this stuff.

“NiNtEnDo HaTeS WaLuIgI”

No. They don’t.

Just because they didn’t put a meme character in the game, doesn’t mean they hate him.

They put him in COUNTLESS spin-offs of the series, and although people want him in a main series game, be honest. Do they think that because he’s a memorable or iconic character OR because he’s a meme?

There are people who like Waluigi as a character, obviously.

I doubt Baby Leroy would like to play Waluigi in Toadstool Tour because he saw the meme cultures on the newfangled internetz.

He can be REALLY funny.

But seriously, would you rather that he be an assist trophy, or not in the game at all?

“HaLf ThE rOsTeR iS FiRe EmBLeM, PoKéMoN, oR MaRiO”

Can you really blame them?

Fire Emblem is a game series where you encounter new characters every few chapters in a 20 or higher chapter game.

I’m playing Awakening. I’m not even halfway through the game, and my posse is now an army.

Not to mention all the DLC or amiibo or whatever sprinkled throughout the series.

It’s a series about CHARACTERS.

And really, no character was added with “Man there are so many Fire Emblem characters I love it” in mind.

And to everyone who thinks every one is Marth…

First of all, not true.

Second of all, that’s technically IS’ own fault.

Think about it. Most Fire Emblem protagonists are Lords with Swords.

Marth, Roy, Ike, Chrom.

Those are all the Marths.

And I have a special case for Lucina, because she is LITERALLY A MARTH.

THAT WAS HER ALTER-EGO FOR A LITTLE BIT OF AWAKENING.

No Fire Emblem character is the exact same.

The one who is the least different is Lucina, but I go back to what I said before.

And starting with Robin, Smash has started releasing more original fighters.

Robin has the tomes, Corrin has the Dragonstone.

And Chrom is an echo, so he doesn’t count.

As for Pokémon…come on. THERE ARE 800+ POKÉMON AS OF NOW.

OBVIOUSLY there’s going to be a lot.

And UNLIKE Fire Emblem, they’re all original.

None of them except Pikachu are made with the fact that they’re Pokémon in mind.

Jigglypuff and Pichu were joke characters, Mewtwo was a spooky scary legendary, Pokémon Trainer was a 3-in-1, Lucario had the Aura Mechanic, Greninja was a ninja, Incineroar was a wrestler.

And Mario is the face of the company.

Daisy is an echo, and Piranha Plant was a giant slap in the face that “HEY. STOP BEING IDIOTS AND ENJOY THE CHARACTER CHOICES, DON’T PREDICT THEM.”

There ya go.

“wOrLd Of LiGhT hAs nO sToRy”

That is a great exaggeration.

OF COURSE IT HAS STORY, YA DINGUS.

You can think it doesn’t have a lot of story, sure, but it definitely has story.

It is definitely not Subspace, but the people who think Subspace is amazing are greatly in the minority.

And what did you expect? Constantly fighting the same puppets?

Give it a chance.

Also PLEASE GIVE US A BOSS RUSH MODE NINTENDO—

“TeRrY mAkEs nO sEnSe”

Isn’t it amazing how people can put in all this research to predict a character, and then when a character no one expects comes in, they only look at what’s on the surface?

TWO WORDS. Latin America.

Terry represents the Neo Geo, a forgotten era of gaming.

There’s gotta be SOMEONE in the world that wanted him.

Sakurai loved Persona 5, Dragon Quest is a beloved series no one really talks about anymore, and Banjo-Kazooie is a classic and should be treated as such.

And really, Rare needed to be paid respects. It made a huge impact on the gaming world. And thanks to Banjo in Smash, they can rest now.

Just do the research.

“SAAAAAAANS”

Yeah, he’s in. And he’s NOT an original fighter. Get over it.

“WhErE iS tHe ChArAcTeR i WaNtEd???”

You can’t say a game is awful just because the character you wanted didn’t get in.

Simple as that.

I wanted Geno, but am I throwing a hissy fit because he didn’t get in?

And he’s still a spirit, so I’m thankful he’s in the game at all.

Think about the hardships Nintendo has to go through to get any Square representation.

“aLL tHe ChArAcTeRs FiGhT tHe HaNdS iN cLaSsIc MoDe”

No.

That’s about everything I need to address. This is being the Dopest of Leafeon, and go get this game right now, it’s amazing.

Another point to make about Marth and Lucina is that they are the "basic swordfighter" character. No sword throws (Chrom, Ike), blade beams (Cloud, Link to a lesser extent), fire (Roy), or anything else. It makes sense to have more than one of such a character, especially since Lucina's lack of a tipper makes her slightly easier to play than Marth, who requires more skill but can deal more damage in the right hands.

Yup, fair points everywhere, I really agree~
And yeah, Fire Emblem has a lot of characters.
*recalls the amount of characters I had near the end of Fates: Revelations*
