Ah...Dark Matter.
One of the most well-known Kirby villains.
There's Dark Matter, Zero, Zero-Two, Magolor, Dark Mind, that hand thing...
but there ain't nothing like the original.
They're the ones responsible for all the trouble there ever was in Dreamland.
And just because they're dark balls made of dark matter.
They don't even have a name, just...Dark Matter.
Of course, there's Zero.
But again, the Dark Matter Swordsman and Magolor.
Which don't appear to be of the species Dark Matter.
But back to the theory.
In 2015, an unknown force was upon the world of Pokemon.
A force made of all the negativity in the universe.
Which would also be named, Dark Matter.
Because it has the same situation as the Dark Matter from Kirby, he's just a being of dark matter, simply named so.
And it may not seem that these two have much in common, but trust me, I can connect these two in a [dark] matter of minutes.
So let's get right to it.
GAME THEORY
Let's start before Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon came out.
All the way back in 1995, where Dark Matter made his first appearance.
In Kirby's Dreamland 2.
Dark Matter steals all of the Rainbow Bridges that connect Dreamland's islands, and takes control of King Dedede, who falls into an unnatural sleep after defeated by the Rainbow Sword, a weapon of positive emotions that can only be wielded by such pure hearts as Kirby's.
Now back to Pokemon, Dark Matter can seem to do all of these things, better even.
He could've been responsible for the bad future that Explorers copied from Sonic CD.
Or Darkrai and Dusknoir could've.
Dark Matter can't make his enemies fall in unnatural slumbers, but what he CAN do is turn people to stone, which they are then sent to the Voidlands, a place where people get absorbed by the dark liquid particles. Which then they die.
But one thing both do have in common is they can both possess people, and make them more evil than they once were.
We ALL know that King Dedede and Nuzleaf weren't evil to begin with.
Until they got possessed by Dark Matter, making them want to kill the player.
"But what about Yveltal?" you may be asking. Well, Yveltal always lies in slumber until he needs to be awakened by the Cocoon of Destruction. Or is he just the Cocoon of Destruction...
Anyway, since Dark Matter has and always will be alive, he has that power to revive the legendaries he wants to revive, including Yveltal, to be his henchman, since he is the legendary of death itself.
Back to Kirby, Dark Matter made his next appearance in Kirby's Dreamland 3, where he's back to terrorize Dreamland once again.
But during his boss fight, you can see that the fight takes place in the Hyper Zone, a dimension of Dark Matter's own doing.
After defeating him, the fight takes another phase, dying, but another takes over. Zero.
Switching back to Pokemon, the Dark Matter fight ALSO takes two phases, and the fight takes place of Dark Matter's own doing, too.
A quick swap to Kirby, Dark Matter made his next appearance in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, where he and two other Dark Matters take over Ripple Star, possessing familiar characters along the way. Not much to say here except Zero-Two.
Next is Kirby: Squeak Squad, as we can see a Dark Matter clone, Dark Nebula, hide in a chest and wait to be unleashed. The leader of a mouse squad called the Squeak Squad, Daroach, opens the chest and gets possessed by Dark Nebula.
He next makes his appearance in Kirby: Planet Robobot, where he fights Meta Knight in the same form as he was in Dreamland 2, with a sword.
That's about all for Dark Matter.
Don't forget about Magolor, though. After defeating his first phase, you come across Magolor Soul, who seems to have an eye making a striking resemblance to a Dark Matter clone.
So Dark Nebula and Magolor are perfect examples of Dark Matter clones that aren't the main Dark Matter itself.
Not to mention both are the most memorable and threatening villains the franchises have ever seen. Arguably, of course.
In conclusion, I'm not sure about the Dark Matter from Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon being the exact same one from the last two Dreamland games of Kirby, but I AM about him being a Dark Matter clone.
