Hyas is, simplified, a rare subspecies of Elgyem. Were he to be studied by a species expert, he would be discovered to be only a far-flung, isolated relation of conventional solar system Elgyem. Unfortunately, genetics are not the only separation between him and Earth, as the Pleiades are too far away for contact to occur.
That would be the case, wouldn't it? Hyas is aware of his location, though, painfully aware. There are no other Elgyem or Beheeyem near his star, and while a burning object five times the size of our Sun doesn't make for a terrible companion, he is lonely. Spending even a few years in ceaseless orbit wears down on the mind. Hyas has spent quite a while longer than that.
