Our journey today begins with a nice casual walk through route 215. Well except for the fact that it was pouring down rain. Ry walked along, wearing his hood up and Fuego safely in his Pokeball. Water was not good for Fire Types. The ground squished with every step Ry made, and the woods seemed to be alive with active Pokemon, all enjoying the rainy weather. Poliwags happily danced. Ry remembered a story his mom had told them.
A few years ago, Poliwag were not natural to Sinnoh. However one trainer from Kanto released his Poliwag onto Route 215, which ended up becoming an invasive species. He bred with some of the native Pokemon and Poliwag began to become more common. His mother used this to explain how habitats can be both fragile and adapt. It was a cool little thing, that she had found really interesting and had mentioned it multiple times to Ry growing up.
Seeing these Poliwag happily play in the rain, and remembering his Mother’s interest in them, made Ry want to catch one and add it to his team. However not only were they Water Types, but the rain was pouring down had, leaving Fuego at a massive disadvantage. Probably a good idea to catch one, another time.
As he continued his march, something caught his eye. There was a boy with a dark maroon buttoned up jacket with dark green hair facing a small Poliwag. It looked pretty battered and injured. Behind the boy was a large towering Pokemon. It was similar to a sea serpent,with bright blue scales and massive fangs.
“Gyarados. Bite!” The boy commanded. The Pokemon, which was a Gyarados, lunged forward and clutched the small Poliwag in it’s jaws. The small Pokemon, gave a faint cry of pain, but was too exhausted to do anything more.
“Stop it!” Ry shouted instinctively, running toward the boy, while waving his arms. “What are you doing. Leave it alone. Either catch it or help it. What are you doing? I can’t take any more. You could kill it!” His face was beginning to turn red with anger and his hands were shaped into fists.
“Really kid. Think about it. Strength is key. If a Pokemon is weak, than it doesn’t deserve to even live.That’s the real power of a trainer, to do whatever it takes to win. Besides. It’s just a wild Poliwag. No one will really care if it’s gone.” The heartless trainer said giving a shrug. “But if you care enough about it, go get it! Toss that worthless Pokemon into the river!”
The Gyarados reared it’s head back and swung, releasing it’s grip on the Poliwag. It flew through the air, and splashed in the river. Under most circumstances it could probably swim off, even with the faster and stronger current because of the rain. However since the poor Pokemon was badly injured, it wouldn’t be able to escape. At this point the Water Type was drifting in and out of consciousness.
“Poliwag!” Ry shouted running forward dropping his bag and Fuego’s Pokeball on the ground under a tree, before leaping into the water. The current was harsh and merciless beating both Ry and the Poliwag as he neared the Pokemon. However, Ry pumped his arms and kicked his legs until he was i reaching distance of the Poliwag. He threw his arms around the Pokemon, and brought his legs in, forming a ball around the Pokemon with his body.
He kicked his legs out of the ball, causing his floating body to spin to the left. His side scraped the bank and he freed an arm from holding the Poliwag, and grabbed onto a clump of weeds and dirt, pulling himself and the Poliwag out of the water. He stood up shakily, still clutching the body of the Poliwag. The water type’s breathing was faint but still there. He walked in front of the boy, while the Gyarados trainer simply watched with a blank emotionless face.
Ry set the body of the Poliwag down by his bag and picked up Fuego’s Pokeball. He turned to face the boy and glared at him. “Who the hell do you think you are?!” He shouted with his voice rich with rage.
The boy gave a cocky grin. “My name is Dennis Martin. And I am the future Pokemon Champ. Now what are you going to do with that Pokeball?”
Ry clenched his teeth. “My name is Ry Burst. And I challenge you to a Pokemon Battle!” His thumb tapped the Pokeball sending out Fuego. As Ry stared, he silently thought about his options. Gyarados was a Water and Flying Type. So first off, he not only resisted Fire Type moves, but also Fighting Type. However Fuego did know Thunder Punch. While Thunder Punch itself was a unique move for Monfernos to know, Fuego knew it through something his mother called, an Egg Move.
But Fuego still had trouble using it. So as for right now, it was a no go. “Fuego, use Fury Swipes!” Ry commanded. The Fire Monkey clamored forward, with his claws raised and gleaming. He leapt into the air and began to scratch rapidly onto Gyarados’ face.
However the Water and Flying type showed no signs of being hurt. “Weakling. Gyarados, use Water Pulse!” The sea serpent formed a swirling ball of water in his mouth, and blasted it close range at Fuego. The orb collided with Fuego’s stomach knocking him back.
The Monferno flipped backwards in the air, and landed on his feet, skidding back, a few feet. Ry grimaced. “C’mon, we got a bit more to give. Let’s hit ‘em hard with Flame Wheel!” Fuego gave a thumbs up and rushed forward and in a spiral of spinning flames that enclosed Fuego. As Fuego advanced upon Gyarados, the ground that he passed over, became scorched.
“”Really? A Fire Type Move? Go, Aqua Tail!” Gyarados swung his tail up and flipping into the air, twisting his body in a position to attack Fuego. Water began to spin and wrap around his tail, as he brought it down with incredible force.
“Fuego!” Ry cried as the water swarmed around Fuego smacking him into the ground. As Gyarados backed away from the attack, Fuego was barely able to stand. Things weren’t looking good for Ry.
“I’m done with you! Fuego! Thunder Punch!” Fuego gave a smirk as he raced forward with his fist raised, ignoring the pain coursing through his body. In less than moments, his fist became engulfed in electricity as he ran towards Gyarados.
“Hydro Pump!” Dennis gave the command calmly, as he had already predicted how this match would end up. Gyarados opened his jaw wide and fired a massive blast of pressurized water. Fuego blocked it with his fist. The water split around Fuego as he ran, but still dealing heavy damage. However it didn't negate it.
Fuego leapt up though the faded Water Type attack and socked Gyarados in the face, with all of his might, dealing super effective damage. The Monferno landed in front of Ry and was struggling to stand. Ry watched to see if the Gyarados would fall. It swayed a bit, but stayed standing.
“Dragon Pulse!” As the words escaped Dennis’ mouth, Ry felt himself go weak. It was over. The blast smashed through the ground and climbed forward, slamming into Fuego in an arc. The attack continued and stopped only at Ry’s feet, with enough force to knock the boy way. Ry’s unconscious body, along with the body of the defeated Monferno, landed beside the Poliwag.
“Weaklings,” Dennis scoffed, returning Gyarados to his Pokeball. Some people didn’t deserve to be trainers. And with that, he left the body of our hero, continuing on his way.

Sh followed the smell to lead to somewhere that looked like it had an intense battle upon its soil. The dirt was scorched and ripped apart. And at the far end was a boy and two Pokemon, who all were unconscious.
“I have to help,” The young woman breathed running over to help.
