Adriana’s point-of-view, fourth day of the Butterfly Month, 170th year since the first ‘celestial children.’
~~~
As soon as I could, I sped outta the palace, towards the nearest inn, the ‘3-Hut and 7-Star Place,’ as some call it: The Windy Flame.
As soon as I showed up, the inn owner walked up and straight apologised that the last ten rooms were all booked up just now.
“Oh? Nah, I’m only ‘round here to see if anyone’s already here for the banquet.” I explained to the innkeeper.
“You are? Well, I would assume that the Supreme Duchess’s banquet got ten Aran solders and a kid here...”
“Ee~eehhh...? A kid?”
“Yeah, tall, but of course, Flamekin heritage, still a kid, that boy is. Probably younger than you, miss... I never caught your name?”
“Ooohhhh, that-all makes sense!” I tilted my head and smiled, my hair falling down as it always does. “Adriana Orsetsfun, a maid at the palace of the Supreme Duchess Herself!” I introduced, bouncing about a little, but that was the stillest and formal-est I could be.
“Orsetsfun...? Are you perchance the daughter of Bethia, one of the waitresse-” The innkeeper started to ask, but a young boy’s whine cut him off.
“You have to be kidding me Raphe! We still have the moneeey...!”
“God, when will you learn that money isn’t everything, Alex! We are not saying here past the banquet and that is final.” came the stern, no-nonsense reply from a tall man in red and orange metal plate armour, matching metal vambraces and orange shoes, with a small bit of linen cloth over the chest plate, but underneath the shoulder guards, clasped with an orange gem with a dark red symbol of some kind. The man was dragging behind him a young boy, probs the one who whined.
