A Journey Home: Ch.1 A Chance Encounter

by Happy the Cat

Happy the Cat What will happen when an encounter with the legendary Pokemon Xerneas leads to a Pokemon ranger waking up as a pokemon?
A/N: This is a pokemon fanfic I had originally posted on Quotev under the name Lunar. This is my work. I'm aware they're are some mistakes, especially commas but I hope you enjoy regardless.

The day had started out like any other. I woke up to part of my bed on fire courtesy of the accident prone Growlithe i was currently taking care of.

I had found the Growlithe injured in the forest that surrounded my home. As a Pokemon Ranger it was my duty to help Pokemon in need so, wanting to make sure it recovered fully i had brought it home with me. It had now been just short of a week and the Growlithe now seemed to be good as new. My house however was a different story.

I had figured out pretty quickly that the Growlithe was still pretty young which meant it accidentally set stuff on fire.....a lot. The poor fire type couldn't help it though and in the end everything turned out okay.

The solution to the little fire problem was keeping buckets of water in every room. That way whenever Growlithe accidentally set something on fire i had something nearby to put the fire out with.

Now that the little guy was all better though it was time to take him back to the woods. It made me kind of sad as i carried him out to near the place i had found him. It had been less than a week but the little guy had really grown on me. He remined me of my first pokemon, a Charmander that was always accidentally setting things on fire with his tail. Nowadays though what was once an accident prone Charmander is now a strong and fierce Charizard.

I've gotten into the habit however, of letting Charizard roam the forest as he like and only calling for him if i needed help on one of my ranger jobs. The arrangement worked for both of us since Charizard gets to roam the forest and i get his help on jobs but without Charizard around it can get a little lonely.

I was jolted out of my reminiscing when the Growlithe in my arms let out a bark and jumped out of my arms. I looked up just in time to see the Growlithe run straight into the arms (or rather paws) of an Arcanine.

"How sweet." I thought with a smile as i watched the happy scene. This was probably my favorite part of being a ranger, getting to see my hard work pay off.

As the Growlithe and Arcanine disappeared into the trees i turned and headed not towards home but into the forest instead. It was only early morning so i had plenty of time to waste since I didn't have any jobs today.

I ended up just wondering around the forest finally coming to a deserted clearing. I was about to turn and finally head home when a rustle in the trees on the opposite side of the clearing made me stop and wait.

"A pokemon?" I wondered as i watched the trees carefully.

Sure enough the source of the noise was indeed a pokemon and as it stepped out into the trees I recognized it immediately.

"Xerneas." I whispered hardly able to believe my eyes. The legendary pokemon Xerneas was right there in front of me.

As if sensing my eyes on it Xerneas turned it's head and it's eyes locked with mine. The light from the sun hit the graceful pokemon's antlers and made the world dance with color for a moment.

It was breathtaking but then i began to feel strange. I began to feel deeply tired. Of their own accord my eyelids slowly fell shut and sleep overtook me.
Ariados twice likes this.
