In a dark candle-lit room a pony sat over a book. She quietly read it, jotting down a few notes now and again, and constantly reread the pages that were right in front of her. After hours of doing this over and over, she got out a piece of parchment, a quill, and some ink. She smiled as she wrote down a letter, something to a pony she remembered fondly due to the fact they were close when they were little fillies.
"Northern Star," she whispered. The soft, yellow glow of magic radiated from her horn, the paper, the ink, and her writing quill. She moved her books to the side and placed everything down. She then started to write a letter to the other pony that she had just named. "I would be very glad to see you once again."
The pony finished her letter, folded it up, placed it in an envelope, placed a seal on it, and wrote the address and other information. She made the return address her workplace, due to the fact she was calling her old friend in due to her work. She then smiled and walked out of the room. She would send it first thing in the morning. Besides, her report wasn't needed until the end of the year. She left the study and went to bed, not realizing that she forgot to sign it. A terrible mistake. One that would cause much confusion for everypony.
When the daylight brought by Princess Celestia shone on her face, the unicorn got up and placed the message in the mailbox. Soon the Pony Express would deliver her letter to the white unicorn that she called friend during her foalhood.
