Airalyn Winters lives in Mauville City, Hoenn. She'd lived there all her life, her parents were both Pokemon trainers who had decided to settle down into their calm lives. Her mother was a Pokemon performer and owned a Sceptile, while her Father was a battler and owned a Swampert. Airalyn was a sweet little girl who always stayed in the shadows of her parents. She was quite shy, and didn't like going outside to play with other children. She just wanted to stay inside and draw. By the age of 8, she managed to draw both of her parents Pokemon by memory, but she was still lonely.
One day, her parents decided to take Airalyn out into the forest to find Pokemon. Her parents were occupied with the surrounding Beautifly and Dustox, so Airalyn wandered off. She found herself completely lost, and it started to rain. She ran for cover and found a cave to hide in, she found a small blue, white and orange Pokemon also sheltering from the rain. It was a Ralts, but not just any Ralts, a shiny Ralts. She bonded with it and took it back home. Her parents were delighted when they found out that she had a Pokemon, so they caught it for her. Airalyn named her Sapphire.
