She limped into town with a look on her face that clearly indicated her intentions. Nobody had seen her before, nobody knew who she was, but the feeling of dread that slid off of her was almost palpable. "There's no magic in her," the sages said; "she doesn't look like a skilled fighter," the warriors said; nonetheless, everyone cut her a wide path. She walked straight past the guards stationed in front of the fort without even a sideways glance at them.
Two weeks later, she had deposed the general. Nobody argued; in fact, nobody seemed to think it was strange at all.
