A World Without Color: A World Without Color Chapter 7: Creative Bonds

by Silvermist599

Silvermist599 Noah tries to befriend the last of his old friends, but what will Nate's reaction be like. You'll find out in the next Chapter ;)
The rest of the day passed like a blur. My mom and I didn’t talk much, and nothing had changed. However, tonight, I had something more important to think about than my own struggles. At this point what I really needed to do was find a way to gain Nate’s trust. The problem way, I didn’t know how. The best way was obviously to get his necklace back for him. The problem was, I didn’t even know where to start with that.

‘Wait, actually,’ I thought, ‘Mikey might be able to help with that.’ I thought it over. It made logical sense. If I could somehow prove that I was telling the truth about my story, then he’d have to reason not to trust me. A way I could prove my story, that’s where Mikey fit in. If I get the four of us back together, I can prove we were a team, right? And once he tells us ‘The Plan,’ the four of us will hopefully be able to fulfill ‘The Plan.’ Then he might be able to figure out a way to reverse what ever happened to me between Monday and Tuesday.

I just sat there for a minute before groaning audibly. There was no way this would work. How would I prove we were a team, for one? If I did that, how do I know that would convince him? What if we couldn’t complete ‘The Plan?’ What if this isn’t reversible?

No, I couldn’t think like that. This was my only hope and the next thing I needed to do was befriend Kara. I’d work on that tomorrow.

I just sat there for a while, thinking aimlessly before I finally drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, things were largely the same, but I’d come up with a plan to befriend Kara. Before I left home, I made sure to grab a notebook and a few pencils and left to go to school early.

It took me about fifteen minutes to walk to school that morning, but when I arrived, I noticed Kara sitting outside, still finding it weird to see her with her hair so short. I walked up to her and asked, “Hey, Kara, can you help me with something?”

She just looked at me for a moment, then she looked around us and said, “Are you crazy? You know we’re not allowed to talk to each other!”

“Yeah, yeah, I know, but I really need your help. I’ve seen you drawing before and I need some help redrawing some profiles and maps, can you help?” I ask, knowing she’d accept.

“Y- you want my help?” she asked, her expression immediately lighting up. “Yeah, I’ll help, when do you need me?” She asked excitedly.

“Tomorrow at Nate’s place sound good to you?” I ask.

“Yeah, sure!” She said. “It’ll be so nice to finally draw again.” She said wistfully. “I haven’t been allowed to since I started elementary school, but I used to do it in secret until I got caught. Then after that I had to stop.” She said sadly. “That’s why my training day is the first of the month.” She said ashamed.

“Oh, I’m sorry about that. I understand.” I say truthfully. “I love to write stories. I love imagining myself in other, brighter worlds,” I say sitting down across from her. “But I had to stop when my mom got involved. Now if she sees anything like what I used to like, she freaks out on me.” I say, careful not to lie to her.

“Wow, you do get it,” she says, looking at me, not just like another gray zombie, but actually as a person now. “I thought I was the only one who cared about creativity anymore, but now I know that’s not true.” She said smiling at me.

“Yeah, and maybe you can come to Nate’s place more often. I don’t think anyone really knows about it, so you can probably draw all you want down there.” I said with a welcoming smile.

“I may hold you to that,” She said with a joking smile, before looking at the clock on the front of the school. “Oh, we should probably go inside, they may wonder why we’re out here together, we don’t want them to know we were talking to each other.” She said and got up. “Well, see you in class, then.” She said and walked into the school building. I soon followed, having to hold back my smile as I enter the school doors for my third day in this dark world.
