Aura Goes To Art Academy: A Lesson in Colour Choice

This is a really exaggerated example of how I choose colours, most noticeable with the shading on the paws and inner ears. Instead of just moving the colour towards black to darken it, I change the colour too, moving towards blue/purple. So red I'll shade with a dark pink and then purple, and highlight with yellow. I find the colours turn out a lot nicer that way and the drawing has a little more pop to it.
