I don't know what Blue expected. He is very clearly checking an EarthBound mailbox. Granted, it's not nearly bizarre enough to be considered a Mr. Saturn mailbox at first glance, but still.
This is another of those punchlines that doesn't work at all if you read the comic a second time, but I still have a soft spot for it.
Blue's handwriting is neater than I could ever hope for mine.
