So, there I was, in front of a new trainer. A fire-type starter Pokémon. A Cyndaquil. The trainer eyed us closely, then picked up the Tododile to the left of me. Totodile snickered at me and commented: “See ya later chumps! Nobody wants a grass creature with a necklace,” He said to Chikorita. “And who would ever want a rat that’s on fire?”
“You take that back.”
“But why? It’s true.”
“It is not.”
“Really. Then why did he not choose you?”
Chikorita let out a heavy sigh. The trainer put Totodile in the ball and walked out. Next was a girl, a spunky one too. She had brown hair, brown eyes, tan skin. She bounced in like she was on a trampoline. Professor Maple shook her hand and led her to us. “Okay Becca, here they are. I’m sorry but a trainer just took Totodile and- “
“That’s okay.” The girl waved her hand absently.
She glanced at us for a moment and clapped loudly. Chikorita jumped and hid, but I crouched into my battle position. “Cyndaquil.” She said.
Yes! I was finally picked. After weeks and weeks of waiting I’m finally going to be picked!
She lifted me up and stared at me.
“Ready?” She whispered.
I nodded back.
“Then our adventure begins now!”
This is good. I like this girl, and I can’t wait to evolve and train and get gyms with her! This was my new life, and I liked it.
“You take that back.”

“It is not.”
