It walks the streets alone, sometimes pausing looking around. I didn't know what it was looking for. One night, I decided to go down to it and talk to it. That was not a smart decision.
I followed it from afar, watching its movements. It paused to look around and saw me. Its eyes were blank, yet penetrating. "What are you looking for?" I called out to it. It did not respond.
Suddenly, it was upon me. Its white eyes stared into mine. I saw the seams where fabric met skin. Then I knew, it was looking for a friend.
But by then it was too late. The cloak engulfed me, every one of its threads digging into my skin. I screamed in agony, but the sound never escaped my mouth.
Now we walk together. We will do so until the end of time, but finally, it has a friend. Me.
