By the Wayside (Towards a New Adventure)

@Linkachu: It's a combination of a nice camera and a lot of effing around with settings and light until I get a version I'm happy with. ^^

The creature doesn't have a species name - but I sort of picture them as hardy beasts raised as mounts and beasts of burden in some kind of mountainous areas. A bit like weird alien quasi-archosaurian llamas, maybe? I get the feeling that this one and its rider have been traveling together for a while, though.

As I've said elsewhere the end result of this painting is gorgeous, both overall and just the scene itself. The textures are beautiful, too. I love the extra touch with the creature (does it have a species name?) and the human. It makes me wish that I could experience relaxing in a place like this, too. ^^

Been curious about something now. How do you capture the quality of your paintings so well digitally? Do you actually scan them or just have a nice camera? Mind you, I'm sure that this painting looks even better in person but your upload quality of it is stunning in its own right.
