So while I was drawing this silly comic I entertained the idea of having a more detailed background than a white void. I then spent a couple of hours drawing the Thrifty Megamart, only to realize that it completely distracted from the main point of the comic, and that just wasn't going to work.
I didn't want to waste all that time either sooo... yay for haunted supermarkets?

I have a soft spot for background art and especially when it comes to pokemon. I love seeing all the packaging and items that people come up with and just all the lore that can be built with just the backdrop. This is no exception, I like the lighting a lot, it makes for a good balance of light and fun but still a bit dark and creepy.

@Psycho Monkey You're correct about the copy pasting actually. I drew each of the packages once, and then copypastaed them wherever I needed them. I do this all the time (eg Moon's legs in that comic) because I don't see the point of going to all the effort to try and copy something exactly (which I inevitably will not quite manage), when I could have what I want with a few button presses. It's just a time saving measure really.

I'm not sure what impresses me more about this piece; the beautifully detailed background or the perfect Japanese on all of the numerous products. Unless you tell me you copy/pasted all of the products, the fact that all of the packaging looks identical on the same items/brands speaks volumes of your skill at consistency. Of course the best part is definitely the possessed Clefairy doll.
